DJ and producer, Call Super, aka Joseph Richmond-Seaton, shares their latest otherworldly single “Sapling”, featuring the exceptional vocals of Eden Samara, following on from their recently released single “Illumina” (featuring Julia Holter) praised by Pitchfork, NY Times and The Guardian. In these two singles, Seaton uses the distinctive voices of Julia Holter and Eden Samara as emissaries for their poetry.
Seaton and Samara first met when he saw her “howling by the speakers” at a club night, their friendship growing from this first impression. “Sapling” arose from a conversation between the two, “imagining lost versions of ourselves that could have existed - but never quite came to be” and set their ‘thesis’ of sorts for the track: “The person I didn’t become, but thought I might.” The two wrote poetry expanding from this conversation with Samara adding a flair of inspiration from the fantastical soundtrack of Cirque du Soleil’s “Alegría”.
